Afternoon Tea

I do love Afternoon Tea! 🙂 I have been to a couple of places to celebrate engagements (mostly my own!), hen parties or just an excuse to have a bottle of champagne.

The Westin

The Westin

I’ve been here a few times and the more I go, the more I like it. The Atrium Lounge is beautiful and very relaxing – there is also the option of a private room for a large party, There are three options for Afternoon Tea here, Traditional, Mad Hatters or The Most Peculiar.

The Shelbourne

The Shelbourne

This was interesting – you have to book for a specific sitting and the room is super posh. The food is really good and I liked that it was brought out in two sections (savory then sweet) but I found the setting to be awkward – mainly as I’m not posh 🙂 I felt The Shelbourne the least relaxing of all.

The Westbury

This was by far my favourite Afternoon Tea – the first time I was here was shortly after we got engaged and we spent an afternoon ring shopping. It’s more expensive than every where else, at €60 for champagne but the food is amazing! I’ve been here twice since, one the food was still as fab and the second time, the dessert selection was very poor (we ended up not eating the top tier!)

Powerscourt Hotel

This was probably my least favourite – as the food wasn’t very nice. The bread was stale and the meat was very chewy. It was a surprise for a 5* hotel, as I was expecting a much higher standard. I don’ think I would go back.

Farnham Estate

This is one of our favourite hotels for a weekend away, and the Afternoon Tea here is fantastic. The Drawing Room here is very quite and relaxed so you could sit here for hours to enjoy some good food!

The Intercontinental

We had booked in for the Gin Afternoon Tea that we had seen advertised online. When we got here, the tea didn’t exist so we ended up with the standard Afternoon Tea. The food was lovely and on the more expensive side which was a little frustrating as its not in town, so a taxi is needed!

The Morrison

We had a team event at the Morrison, with most opting for the Gentleman’s Tea (a board with fries, sliders, hot dog etc.) but I went for the traditional tea.
