After living in Dublin for a few years I decided to put together a couple of my favourite restaurants!
1: Paulies Pizza – In my opinion the best pizza in Dublin. It’s located on the outskirts of Grand Canal Dock and can be accessed by train, or a 20 minute walk from Trinity College. Its located in a converted house with the kitchen fully open on the ground floor. Around the corner you can find Juniors, a brother restaurant that does great sandwiches at lunch.
What to get? Bianca pizza with black olives and a cocktail from Barry’s Bar upstairs.
2: Jo Burger – The most amazing burger in town and now with three locations on South Anne Street, Rathmines and Smithfield. Jo Burger has a huge selection of burgers in an extremely hipster setting, that sometimes can be a bit much. The staff can be hit and miss (they rarely write down the order, so they end up forgetting some stuff).
What to get? Pure burger with blue cheese and avocado, along with bush fries and satay mayo
3: Mehek – We came across this Indian when we lived in Rathgar, although its out of the city a little bit its worth a visit. It’s a bit on the expensive side but it’s hands down the best Indian around. Everything is very fresh and the staff are friendly.
What to get? Chicken korma with garlic naan and Pilau rice – never fails!
4: The Greenery – A cute little cafe in Portobello that is always busy. This was a nice little find and it never fails to disappoint. Its an small house converted into a cafe (I believe there is also seating upstairs) so it can be a tight fit, but you will always manage to get a seat. There are also some tables outside for the one day we get summer.
What to get? Everything. From the steak sandwich to the scrambled eggs & smoked salmon its all amazing!
5: The Port House – With a few locations around the city, the Port House is a great little tapas bar. I find the one on South William Street a bit too cosy, but I love the back area of Port House Pinxto in Temple Bar. They have recently changed their menu and taken away some great dishes, but there is still plenty to chose from!
What to get? Pepito Solomilo with Patatas Alioli (and so much more!)
6. Clanbrassil House – This is a very cute little restaurant (little brother of Bastible) on Clanbrassil Street that does a fantastic tasting menu for eur 40. I’ve been twice and the food doesn’t disappoint!
What to get? Family Style menu for €40!
7. Skintflint – A Jo Burger relation, this beautiful place on Dame Street does some fantastic flatbread pizzas with some unusual concoctios!
What to get? Fig & Olive tapenade!
8. Konkan – Tied with Mehek as being my favourite Indian restaurant in town. Konkan is fantastic for take-away as they do a €13 meal deal (Starter, main, rice + naan). They also have their own app which makes ordering super duper easy!
What to get? Korma!
Fun post! I may visit Dublin this summer. Looking forward to it!
